GLOBAL/VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCES
GUATEMALA
Volunteer
Mission trip volunteer in Guatemala. Worked alongside professional stone masons and built stoves in order to benefit needy Guatemalan families. Stoves were ventilated, allowing for better respiratory health for families who otherwise cooked inside home with open fires. Five stoves were built from scratch in a period of ten days.
BOSTON
Partners in the Parks Volunteer
Partners in the Parks trip in association with the National Collegiate Honors Council and the National Park Service. Learned about the natural history of the Boston Harbor Islands and the American history of Boston. Learned about the significance of National Parks in the United States and visited many nationally protected areas. Visited historical sites, monuments, and museums in Boston. Helped park rangers clear invasive plant species on the island.
LOUISIANA
Volunteer
Animal Welfare volunteer at the Louisiana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (LSPCA). Enriched and cared for animals; introduced to potential adopters; prepared adoptees for adoption events. Promoted LSPCA within the community, passed out flyers, and canvassed in neighborhoods. Performed maintenance and yard work of the property.
COSTA RICA
Study Abroad/Volunteer
Spanish class trip to Costa Rica. Donated toys and soccer balls to orphanage. Played with children in an orphanage and taught them basic conversational English. Visited historical sites and museums.
LONDON AND PARIS
Study Abroad
Study Abroad for Comparative Politics. Emphasis on legislative and judicial structures in the U.K and France in comparision to the United States. Historical and renowned sites visited as well as cultural significance explored.
CANADA
Study Abroad/Volunteer
French Class trip to French provinces. Immersive experience gaining knowledge about French culture and history of Quebec and Montreal. Visited several significant historical sites.
